ABOUT THE CUP

The 2024 Spring Valley Viking Cup will feature 32 of the top high school girls’ soccer teams in South Carolina. The inaugural event began in 1993 as a four-team round-robin tournament. As the quantity and quality of girls’ soccer programs in South Carolina has grown, the tournament has kept pace. Over 30 years later, the Spring Valley Viking Cup remains the premier girls’ pre-season invitational in South Carolina.
Our goal is to bring together all of the teams atop the state rankings each year. While there is some subjectivity and guesswork involved, the field always includes nearly all of the top in-state programs. The result is a highly competitive event that serves as both a test of strength for the teams involved as well as a predictor of things to come during the upcoming high school season. This gathering of great high school talent has also made the Viking Cup attractive to college coaches on the recruiting trail - we annually host 30 college coaches during the event. |
